| How to Use the Questions & Answers page
of the TWWWG.com web site:
First you need to REGISTER! The Registration process
is a one-time evolution and some of the blocks are mandatory.
Remember your Logon Name and Password that you put in the
blocks during the REGISTRATION process.
Then use your Logon Name and Password to Login to the Q&A
Forum. If you forget your password (or your name), send me
an e-mail (Ebunker369@aol.com) and I'll retrieve it for you.
I'll send it to you in an e-mail or I'll call you on the phone.
After logging in, you are free to navigate the page. Your
name and your available links are located at the top and bottom
of the page. They include "Control Panel" | "Subscriptions"
| "Logout".
The "Control Panel" gives you the REGISTRATION
form giving you the opportunity to make some changes. Within
the "signature" and "bio" blocks, you
can put what you want in these blocks
I used "All
the best, ED" in my signature block. Then in the Bio
block you may put a little something about yourself to share
with those other members
like your years of experience
sharpening jointer knives, or your qualifications in holystoning
a teakwood deck on the USS Boston CAG-1, or that you were
a deck hand on Noah's Ark. Something like that.
The "Subscriptions" link will show you a listing
of the "Topics" and "Questions" you want
to keep track of. If you want to "Subscribe" to
a particular topic, click on the "Subscribe to this Category"
to the far right of the Topic for which you want to subscribe.
Once you click on this, you will be notified via e-mail that
there has been an answer posted to this topic area, letting
you know that you might want to check the web page to look
for the comment or answer to the posted question.
And of course the "Logout" link exits you from
the forum.
In the TWWWG Forum there are currently three topics; "About
this Forum", "General", and "About the
Club TWWWG". Under these main topics, there are subtopics.
For example, under the "General" Topic, there is
a subtopic called "Wood". Clicking on the link "Wood"
will take you to the posted questions. I've got something
silly in there for now as examples for getting familiar with
the process. I'll remove the silly stuff later when you get
familiar with the process. You can click on the posted question
and see the reply as well as who posted the reply to the question.
You may post your own reply to the question by clicking on
the "Post Reply" link at the lower right of this
page.
Lets suppose you wanted to start a New Discussion under the
"General" topic and in the "Wood" sub-topic.
You would click on "General", then "Wood"
and then on the right side of the page, click "Post New
Discussion". This will open up a form for you to ask
the question. Fill out the blocks and click on "Submit"
at the lower left of the form. That's it in a nutshell. Give
it a go! You have nothing to loose. Just keep it clean.
Now for the posting of
Projects:
Since Bret Lancaster and I are neighbors, we took some pictures
and had them posted on the "Projects" page. It was
just a rough page to show something there as we develop this
page. We have some work to do here as we move on. To post
a picture of a project on this page, we'll need the following:
The picture...
Digital is fastest however if you have just a photograph,
get it to me and I'll scan it into a digital version. We are
not into the 2 MB photos that take up a tremendous amount
of web space. 30-50 KB is the recommended size and the quality
is quite acceptable. JPEG and GIF are quite conservative formats.
A short caption for the photo sometimes helps the viewer.
Items for Sale & Items
Wanted:
This is an easy one. The "Items for Sale " is now somewhat automated. Just click on the "Items for Sale " button and follow the instructions there. It is somewhat automated in that you get to post your own ad and it stays up for 30 days. At the end of the 30 days, the ad is automatically deleted. So if your item has not sold and you want it to remain up on the web site, then simply repost the ad before the 30-day period expires, and the new ad will remain “up” for another 30 days! If your item sells, no action is required, as it will automatically expire at its 30-day point.
To post “Items Wanted” on the web page, follow the format and send the entry to me at EBunker369@aol.com . I'll get the items posted for you. You may also want to consider having your “wanted” items listed in our monthly Newsletter.
